Extraordinary People, Illinois Research, and Informational Text Book Clubs!

Extraordinary Person and Illinois Research Presentations: In writing, we researched an extraordinary person and wrote an expository essay. The kids could choose how to present their information from their research. We are becoming more confident presenting our information in front of the class! Book Clubs: In book clubs this week, we worked to write a summary on one of the sections of the text. Later in the week, we analyzed sections to determine what kind of text structure was used. Valentine's Day, Freedoms, and Fractions

We visited four stations in the room to learn about freedoms being extended or restricted in Social Studies. We shared our findings with classmates. Valentine's Day party fun! In math, we practiced subtracting fractions from a whole using recipes! We embraced some challenges by adding and subtracting fractions from other fractions  with unlike denominators.  We learned about different events in history and how different groups of people  can experience different outcomes.  

Fireman Joe Visits, Memory, Mixed Number Dice, and Word Problem Challenges

Our leader of the week is sharing her poster and pictures with the class! Fireman Joe stopped by 4th grade to talk to us about smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. He also talked with us about making sure we have a meeting spot with our families at the front of the house and the importance of sleeping with our doors shut. We worked on our working memory skills by playing a good old fashioned game of MEMORY!
