5th Grade Executive Functioning Presentations: We have learned about focused attention and time management so far. We are trying to apply what we learn in the lessons to the attention and focus that we have in class! Mrs. C got all mushy seeing former students at the middle school orchestra, choir, and jazz band concert this week. The kids were so impressed with how well the kids sang and played. Many were excited to think about how great they can be by the time they reach this age. We like to take turns asking and answering silly questions from our daily 5. We learn a little bit about our classmates and make connections with them. In LMC, we are learning about poetry. We learned how to take words that stand out from a text (information, fiction, news article, magazine, and more) to create our own poems. We read about Eco-Friendly foods in our mentor text this week.  The kids worked to go back in the text to provide evidence to support after completing a collaborative discussion wi...

Economics, Outside Reading, and Vision Boards

We learned how to use this chart to convert metric units. Way to go, Cacioppo Crew! We created our vision boards for social studies and shared them with our teams. We enjoyed some fresh air with friends this week! We read a book called Buyers and Consumers with a partner and created our top 5 takeaways to help us remember important information. We sorted words from our social studies lesson into 2-3 categories. Our words were markets, goods, services, resources, buyers, sellers, consumers, producers, and income. Our leader of the week is sharing her pictures with the class. We took our reading outside this week. I didn't realize how windy it was so we took shelter in the gaga pit! We were laughing so hard at the wind turning the pages in our books. Congratulations to our kindness and grit recipients this week!

I need to take more pictures to post!

In our reading, we are learning about different types of conflict. We investigated our book club books to determine what type of conflict was in our story. In science, we are learning different ways to send signals to communicate. In this case, we created a code with 0s and 1s. The 0s would be a short flash with the flashlight. The 1s would be a longer flash. We used the signals to send information on a picture to our classmate across the room! Choir performance! 5th Grade Music Show!
