Important Events in United States History and Early Illinois History

Congratulations to last week's grit and kindness award recipients!

Our class photographer took several of our pictures for the blog.
Way to go!

In Social Studies, we took events from history and added them to our timeline.
We worked on summarizing the event and determining where it would be placed on the timeline.

Our leader of the week is sharing pictures!

In Social Studies, we worked with a partner to jigsaw some important events in how Illinois became a state. We first learned how to summarize the event using transition words. We then wrote about the cause and effect of the event. Finally, we had to put all of the pieces together to realize the different connections between that specific event and other events happening around that time in history.

The kids created a slideshow to showcase their learning using the requirements from the list below:

We are gathering evidence from the text to make connections and complete the worksheet.

Some fun while we wait for the 3rd grade music show!

Time for presentations on our historical event!

On Friday, we read an article about how Illinois became a state.

We used evidence from the text, as well as information from a video, to gain a better understanding of the early history of Illinois.

Congratulations to our kindness and grit award recipients!
