Chicago History Museum, Optical Illusions, and Book Clubs!

Field Trip Fun!

We are building our background knowledge as we read about eye structures in humans and animals.

We made observations on different types of insects.
We will use this information next week in Science!

Congratulations to our grit award recipient!

We are reading our new book club books!
We will be applying the skills we learn in class during our whole group lessons on these books with partners and independently.

In Science, we made observations on different optical illusions.
First, we tried to answer the question without using any tools other than our eyes.
Then, we used rulers, pencils, and notecards to make observations to answer the questions
for each illusion.

In math, we worked in teams to answer a big question using only 3 clues.
We worked on asking questions like what do we need to know and what information do we have to help us in the planning process as we answer multi-step word problems.

Here is a sneak peek at our Book Club board!
The kids have been working so hard on their written response and applying
what we are learning. I am so impressed!

Morning Break fun!

We are working on gathering and including text evidence to support our written response answers.
Way to go!

We had a hula hoop challenge for our morning game!
Our fastest time was 35 seconds.

Mrs. Thurman told us about a new book challenge.
We couldn't wait to get started reading!
